Characteristics of a nitrated layer

Attention, the test load must be adapted to the depth of hardening.
Case Depth
The measurement of case depth is set in DIN 50 190-3. It is the distance from the surface
where the hardness is still about 50 HV higher than the core hardness (e.g. Nht =0,3 + 0,1 mm)
It can be useful to refer to the case depth as a border hardness.(e.g. Nht 400 = 0,2 + 0,1 mm)
